The General Director of the National Fish Canning and Packaging Factory, Mr. Muhammad Sultan Al-Fatesh, participated in the workshop to discuss the horizon of possible partnership between the public and private sectors to support and develop the fish sector in Yemen, which was organized by the executive branch to accelerate the absorption of donor pledges and implement support for reform policies in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Wealth. Fisheries, funded by the International Growth Center (IGC), and under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries, Major General Salem Abdullah Al-Soqatri, during the period from January 30 - 31, 2024 AD at the Ministry’s office in the temporary capital, Aden.
This workshop aims to produce a comprehensive research study to develop the fish sector and strengthen partnership between the public and private sectors in the field of fish.
The international expert in the field of public and private partnerships, the author of the study and representative of the IGC, Ned White, spoke in an intervention via video conference, to a group of businessmen and representatives of the private sector, about the great opportunities to advance the fishery sector through partnership between the two sectors, as it is an important tributary to the national economy. He also explained that the study was prepared after lengthy consultations with stakeholders in Yemen and international partner organizations to ensure obtaining a unified opinion on the priorities of supporting the important vital fish sector.
